Gritty, intense action. Real, terrifying villains. Solid, stylish art. Witty, practical dialogue. What more can you ask for from a comic?
The Devilfish Project will actually shock you with some of the coarse violence. However, the action becomes not only an avenue for realism but a last resort for the heroes. Two federal bounty hunters in the year 2095 must take drastic action to bring in criminals. The criminals of 2095 are ruthless, which we see with their language and actions. These are the best of the best. The criminals are the worst of the worst.
Nevertheless, the good guys are losing. The battles in the street become even more terrorizing and debilitating to innocent bystanders. The government must enlist the aid of a scientist whose program requires the transformation of three individuals. Only this will make a difference.

After one issue, I am completely hooked. It’s a very realistic portrayal of a problem that may happen in the future. The stylistic art and coarse lines drive home a very gritty feel to the whole situation. The art is intense yet passionate. Also, the coarse dialogue drives home the closeness of the characters. We feel more emotion and personality from them this way that carefully chosen language would never do. The talk is extremely believable.
I am signed on for the next issue. This was a great first issue concept and I cannot wait to see how it pans out. The Devilfish Project is available for free (for now anyways) on www.DrunkDuck.com .
About The Reviewer: Matt Butcher teaches English in Nome, Alaska. Sometimes as he watches the TV news, he remembers that clever saying from the t-shirt: Beam me up, Scotty, there’s no intelligent life down here. However, he knows intelligence is here on earth and only rarely surfaces. So when he says that something is smart and intelligent, you should probably believe it.
