Von Allan attended this year’s SPX show to promote his upcoming graphic novel, the road to god knows…. Was it a success? How did the new location compare to the old one? Will he ever fly from Canada to the States again?
The 2006 Small Press Expo has come and gone once again and I find myself feeling a little bittersweet now that it’s all over. With SPX and APE under our belts we looked forward to really having a good time with this year’s Expo. Last year I felt a smidgen stressed showing early pages of my work to the public at large for the first time.

Sure, it’s nice to say you’re a published writer or artist. However, the stoners that created and put out Toxic Shock Comics #1 would be better off saving the paper to roll a new “blunt.”

Making its debut at the Stumptown Comics Festival this October is UNDERCARD. Written by Chris Gumprich with Denis Culver handling the artistic end, UNDERCARD is a self-published mini-series focusing on Joe White, a journeyman boxer who never got his shot at a championship. After losing everything, he finally sees a way out, unfortunately, it’s through his iron-fisted protégé.
I recently talked to both Chris and Denis about all things UNDERCARD and what their plans are for their baby.
